Chakra Communication – 1st and 2nd

May 19
2009

Awhile back I did a series on chakras, with some information on how to tune into your own. If you haven’t read it, check out the archives, this will give you a good baseline. You can read specific information on the individual chakras, for this one, first and second. Now I would like to invite you to explore how the energy centers work together.  This is a complex topic, but I am going to attempt to simplify it, so know this is just the basics.

We are going to start with the first chakra, or root chakra, and the second chakra, or sacral chakra. The first chakra, if you remember is associated with survival, while the second is associated with emotions and sexuality. Now lets think about how these two work together, when in balance.

When in balance, you emotions might give you indications when something is amiss with your survival space. You might be scared, worried or on edge about finances, you home, or something similar. This is your call to “pay attention”. Another scenario would be how your species survival is tied in with your need to mate on the sexual level. (even if it isn’t to procreate)  It might be that your survival space could be reassuring your second if you feel uneasy, telling it to “calm down” rather than “pay attention”. The key here is allow and notice the communication to discover it.

When it is out of balance it could show up in a variety of ways. But one of the biggest ways I read in people is when you are afraid to be emotional or sexual because it might affect their survival. Fear that being emotional will make you vulnerable on some level. Maybe it might cause you to loose your job, in your mind, if you are emotional at work.  Fear that opening up sexually might cause your significant other to leave you or reject you. Sometimes I also see issues with people allowing their emotions to control their survival space, meaning if they feel happy, they feel secure. But if they feel anxious or sad, they are unsafe and need to clamp down and protect themselves on a very primitive level.

Are you beginning to see the communication pattern?

Insightful Inspiration for the week

Notice how your first and second chakras are talking to you. Do you let them talk? Do you trust you emotions to help you survive in the world? Do you allow your survival space to lay the ground work for your energy, allowing it to keep you grounded in your emotions and sexuality? If not, why not? What is keeping you from having this open? Is it training from your childhood? Is it a past relationship that left you feeling vulnerable to the world? Check in and notice where you are allowing a pattern that is no longer useful, to play out in this space.

If you are interested, I could post a little podcast visualization exercise to walk you through this. But you have to comment to tell me you want it. :)

Have fun!

A Journey through YOUR energy centers – Part 7, Crown Chakra

Jan 07
2009

This is the last of the energy centers series. The Crown Chakra is the chakra that enables us to move beyond the physical universe. More is always possible with all of these chakras and this is the one that reminds us of the limitlessness of it all. The key is to bring this information back down into the physical body, because as humans…that is what we are doing here on earth. My interpretation of this center is it is our ability to understand how we are all connected. When it is unbalanced or blocked, we feel alone, separate from each other or attached to the physical reality such as routines or dramas. It can be us stuck “in our head” or “over thinking” things or it could be lost in “daydreaming”. This chakra is also where external information comes in, regardless of source. I often find the news, parents, and other external control factors blocking up people’s seventh chakra. It can also be people’s connection to the spiritual realms as well i.e. God, guides, angels, etc. Notice, what external information do you let affect your decisions? Do you feel victimized by external situations? Do you feel alone in your struggles? Can you release those illusions and pay attention to what peaceful messages are there in your seventh. Bring that down into your body. When the seventh is open a sense of peace and clarity flows through all of the chakras. Do you listen to the external sources that support peace or fear? Notice what you are allowing to consume your time. Are you reading negative news, watching negative T.V. programs, or reading sad books? All of this affects how energy flows through your seventh chakra. In the message that your thoughts creates your reality, it the message to notice what you are allowing to consume you unconsciously. It all matters. There is not insignificant interaction. If you are allowing the interactions to drain you and control your thoughts… it is time to take back control and rule your OWN life. Life your life to the fullest. We are all struggling and concerned about similar things. We are all stuck in our thoughts at times. This is something you can use to connect to if you can’t let it go. Connect to the fact that you are not alone, just because we all have the same struggles. As I read for people, I see the same struggles over and over. We are not alone, we just are afraid to share ourselves sometimes because we perceive to be separate from each other. Reach out and get support from helpful sources and realize you are not alone. However, be careful as you do this, because it can also become an “identity” for you that is an illusion that will perpetuate the problem. For example, I find some support groups to drive this self identity in further rather than help you break free. For example, I have a gifted child, who is “twice exceptional”. The risk is, I could let that define me and my child and join groups to complain about how things aren’t working for these kids. That is limiting, and although it is helpful to know I am not alone and brainstorm ways we can make this better, I must be careful not to allow it to DEFINE me. It isn’t who I am. Similarly I have celiac disease. I have heard people at support groups refer to themselves as “celiacs” or “I am celiac”. The definition of yourself begins to form into this disease and consumes you. Although these things all make up our experience, we are so much more that can’t even be described in works. Notice how you are limiting yourself. Notice where you are a victim of your own thoughts. As always, don’t make this a problem, just notice and shift it, if you so choose. You are more powerful than you know. If you become awake to what you are allowing to influence your life, you will notice the pathway to more fulfilling experiences. “That which oppresses me, is it my soul trying to come out in the open, or the soul of the world knocking at my heart for its entrance?” – Rabindranath Tagore Have a peaceful and balanced week. Love to you all. Namaste.

A Journey through YOUR energy centers – Part 6, Third Eye Chakra

Dec 31
2008

e sixth chakra is the intuition chakra located between your eyebrows on your forhead. It is referred to as many thing and hold a lot of weight in many religions that practice meditation and self realization. As I say in all of these  blogs, this isn’t a lesson on the chakras, but just a call to notice what this information means for you. This is my experiences with these centers. Question everything I say, and only take what rings true to you.

The sixth has represented many things for me. One of them being a mind overworked with worry and the illusion of the struggle life holds. I have struggled with trying “understand” the meaning of life, the essence of God and why I am really here. The only thing I keep getting is, “there is nothing to understand, to understand has nothing to do with the spiritual truth you seek.” If I can quiet down the mental chatter that seems to reside in this energy center, a huge sense of peace comes in and I just “know” things rather than “understand” them. It takes a lot less effort and turns out to be very profound. The profoundness of it all can distract me from the more earth based centers, but the real value comes from integrating this knowingness into my earthly presence, not to escape into a “fantasy” land that is my “spiritual home”. My home, for now, is here, and I am here to integrate the knowingness into the life I lead right NOW.

So rather than tell you how to quiet the mind and get in touch with your higher self, which I know many of you struggle with, as do I at times. My inspiration to you is to notice what you already hold as your spiritual truth and see who much you engage that truth with your presence on the planet AND the NOW.

Do you believe in God? If not, why? If so, why? How do you take this belief into your every day actions? Do you think of yourself as a “sinner” or “a piece of God within yourself”? How does this support your goals and your thoughts on the universes goals for you? Do you trust yourself? Do you trust others? How do you know when to trust? Do you overthink things? Do you need proof?

The purpose of this line of questioning is more for you to realize how much your beliefs in these areas affect who you are and how your life unfolds. If you believe you are a sinner – you are. If you believe you are part of a divine plan, you are. The truth is, the thoughts you create from this power center is the reality you are creating for yourself. With this knowledge, see what you have created and determine if you want to continue. Perception is reality. If you think you will have it… you will. I know it sounds simple, but it isn’t when you start to notice how loud your inner voice is against what you want. It is easy enough to tell yourself something, do affirmations, matras, etc. But to just “know” it to be true and trust it is when life opens up to a world that the sixth chakra helps facilitate.

Share what you know about these centers too. I always love comments!

Have a week full of granted wishes and profound lessons from within.

A Journey through YOUR energy centers – 5th Chakra, Throat Chakra

Dec 27
2008

The throat chakra is the energy center that governs communication. It is about speaking your truth and allowing your other energy centers to communicate through you and out to the world. It also involves internal dialogue and the things we tell ourselves. This is probably the most fickle of my energy centers. I frequently try and manipulate people’s responses to me by saying the “right” thing or saying it the “right” way. “Maybe I can ask for what I need and not get her mad if I say this” … Or “maybe if I just don’t say anything and just listen he won’t get upset” … My mental space processes how to use this throat chakra on a regular basis and it can get me in trouble. It is trap many of us get into. Consider this… it isn’t what you say but you intention behind it and you personal reaction to it. Communication is not just about the words you use. We have all heard that most of communication is non-verbal. All of this non-verbal communication is also working with the throat chakra. Also, we can’t control anyone else… not even by saying the “right” thing. So why not just say what we need to say. If you hold back your communication space, either by not saying what you need to say or throwing around this energy through shouting or manipulating, this chakra gets out of balance. As I have already said… every chakra is equally valuable to our well being. This one is one of the more commonly blocked centers I see in people. Usually because they have not given themselves permission to speak their truth. Some people externalize it “well she won’t listen to me, so I don’t bother to tell her how I feel” and others judge themselves “I always say the wrong thing.” But no matter what your excuse is for blocking it, you are only blocking yourself from your highest potential. You own your energy and can choose to open it up. Inspiration for this week – start to consider how much permission you have to communicate your truth, in all areas of your life. Perhaps there are situations where you have more permission than others. Do you feel understood by others? If not, why? If yes, when do you feel most understood? What intention do you put behind your words? Control? Fear? Love? Peace? Notice what happens when you put the intention of love for yourself and others behind your communication. What kind of internal communication do you have going on with yourself? Do you criticize your own mistakes? Talk yourself into being angry and feeling like a victim? Maybe you try and build yourself up or justify your actions. Pay attention to what kinds of things you say to yourself. As with all of these chakras, you could dig and dig in on these blocks. But just notice. Don’t make it a problem, just pay attention. If you pay attention and something comes up you don’t like, just gently nudge in a direction you do like. Trying to “fix” these blocks also creates blocks. Just pay attention to the wisdom that lies in these energy centers. It is a well full of your own truth … nothing to fix, just something to be grateful for. Have a wonderful week full of compassionate words and unconditional love for yourselves.

Journey through YOUR energy system: Part 4 – Heart Chakra

Dec 11
2008

The fourth chakra – the heart chakra. This is my personal favorite and one I love to over use. This is where your affinity for yourself and others comes in. Your love for the world, your dog, anything you enjoy in life. If it is in balance you accept yourself and others. Out of balance you become insecure, jealousy, controlling, or withdrawn.

This is a big place of programmed beliefs. Things you learned growing up about how to love, who deserves love, what society accepts, etc. This is a great place, in my opinion, to own your space for yourself but clearing out this programming and replacing it with information from within yourself about who you are as spiritual person.

Here are some questions to ask yourself to identify blocks in the heart chakra. How do you feel about yourself? What do you love about yourself? What do you dislike about yourself? Can you love yourself unconditionally?

What do you dislike in others? How does that dislike in others related back to you? For example, if you dislike people who are greedy, what does that trigger in you? Is it resentment for feeling like you can’t ask for what you need and want. Is it a greedy side of yourself that you don’t want to acknowledge? Or maybe it represents a behavior one of your parents portrayed and you feel it takes away love from you when they act this way. Really dig in on this one and find out why you dislike this behavior in others. What does it represent for your. Our reactions to the outside world are mirrors of what is happening on the inside. When we feel dislike towards someone it is really coming from within.

What prejudices do you have?  Poor people/rich people? Gay/straight? Skinny/fat? Loud/quiet? Any of these words trigger a response in you? This is a block in the heart chakra and is worth investigating. Some of you might try and argue that it is right and wrong that you are judging in others, but that feels different. What is right for you is right for you and doesn’t require a judgment but more of being where you need to be. It is the judgment that is the trigger calling you to find the block.  Make sense?

As you are doing this be sure to be kind to yourself for what ever you find. Part of the heart chakra being in balance is unconditional love for yourself no matter what blocks you have or what judgments you encounter.  It is who you are now and who you are tomorrow will be different anyway.

My final inspiration is to love yourself this week. Do little things to show yourself love. Get a massage, take a walk, buy a latte… whatever represents a little extra TLC to yourself everyday.  Make a point to appreciate who you are in mind, body and spirit.

I appreciate and love you all. Thanks for reading.

Journey through YOUR energy System: Part 3 – Solar Plexus Chakra

Dec 01
2008

Inspiration for this week – own your power in a balanced way. We are focusing on the Solar Plexus charka. This chakra helps keep your energy systems organized and manifesting. Concentration and your ability to learn new things also comes, in large part from this energy system. Information can get blocked up here, as in any chakra, for early negative experiences. Especially around authority or learning.

Most people tend to be very hard on themselves. Much harder than they would be on anyone else. If you know someone who is hard on you…think how hard they are being on themselves.

Where are are you hard on yourself? What do you say to yourself when you make a mistake? Do you own the power in the lesson or beat yourself up for not avoiding the lesson altogether? Project this onto a child (maybe even your child) would you want this child to hear the words you tell yourself if they had  made the same mistake? What would you tell that child instead? Where ever you are shaming yourself, you are hitting a block in your solar plexus chakra. Spend sometime to notice and see if you can change that energy from shame to love and acceptance.

Another thing to notice about this area is what you are expecting to manifest in your life. Do you expect to be successful? Why not? You do DERSERVE it. The concept of working hard is a good one, but who determines what is “hard enough”? You do. So decide the level of effort you can and want to give to your success and then expect that that is enough to bring what you want into life. If you have trouble with an expectation, start smaller first. Figure out what you do expect, can you increase the positive expectation a little more? Why or why not? Your thoughts are very powerful, even the ones you don’t want to admit to having.

There is a lot of work that can be done in all of these chakras. But I am just trying to get you to notice these energy centers more regularly and listen to them. They are your source of infinate wisdom and prosperity if you so choose to access them.

This week claim responsibility for your life and claim your personal power.

Journey through YOUR energy System: Part 2 – Sacral Chakra

Nov 26
2008

I posted last week about Chakra 2 – apparently the universe didn’t like it, because it is lost.

So, let me try again …. As I said before, this won’t be a lesson in the chakras, but just some inspiration for you to notice them and how you might try to do that. The sacral chakra is associated with emotions and sexual energy. It also is where your appetite for things comes from. When it is balanced, you have balanced appetites for everything including food, sex, and experiences. From my observations, people tend to under use this space in bursts rather than balance. They surpress emotions until they explode. They don’t manage their sexual needs to it comes out in secrets or obsessions.

There is a lot of information to be found in the second chakra. Sharing that information can be amazing and healing. Sharing can be done in many ways… so this is not a definative list, just some examples. Some examples include talking with your friend about how you felt when she said something that hurt your feelings.  Flirting. Feeling empathy for a family you just met after hearing their struggle.  In my experience, these are balanced sharing of information from the second.

Out of balance might looks like and raging rant over something to your significant other that you have been feeling for a long time, but just now expressed. Sexual addiction. Manipulation of someone elses emotions by bending the truth or exaggerating something you told them to be true.

Have you recognized when you second is out of balance yet? Now think of what stories you tell yourself about this place in your body. Is sex naughty? Is being angry make you a bad person? If you break down and cry, does that mean you are weak? These lies we learn thoughout life, from either experiences or childhood programming, keeps us from fully accessing this information.  Spend a moment writting down the things you think about emotions and sex. Do these thoughts help you? Where do you find value in keeping those thoughts going? What if you let those thoughts go? Where do you lack joy and enthusasim in your life? Are you feeling creatively blocked? What is keeping you from experiencing those things?

Bring your attention to your second chakra area (in the sacrum) and notice how that energy feels. Play with it and see if you can allow your self freer access to this information. Can you share this information with others and feel safe? Bring your second chakra in alignment with the work you already did on your first chakra and see if you can use that to give you the security you need to explore this next center.

Have a joyful and creative week!

Journey through YOUR energy System: Part 1 – Root Chakra

Nov 14
2008

Some of you reading are VERY familiar with the chakra system with your body and some of you aren’t. I am going to go with assuming you know something about it (as you can research it practically anywhere). I am going to spend then next 7 weeks or so giving you my thoughts on how to inspire the chakras to balance and function to support you. (there are actually 12 chakras, but I am going to stick with the body here) My inspriation to you is going to be to start an notice your chakras and see what you can mainifest in yourself by paying attention to them more.

So, let’s start with the Root chakra. This is the chakra that is at the base of your spine and in its ideal state spins, clockwise at a red color.  This is where you store information about survival.

What I have found in this chakra as I have read people is mostly about money, home life, loosing children, and loss in general. I have seen all kinds of things stir up someone’s survival space that you may not expect. But primarily, you can think of it this way… what do you think you couldn’t survive without? Food, water and air are obvious answers. But really think about this question.

Children end up in here not because we are protecting them with our chakra, but because we feel WE wouldn’t survive loosing one of them. Other people end up in there if they are telling us we can’t survive on our own, IF we believe what they are saying and buy into the picture. Loss ends up in there for many underlying reason, but primarily it is because you feel you won’t survive without it.

This chakra is really helpful to clear out and balance. Especially if you experience a lot of fear or anxiety.

Here is the inspiration a step further. Ask youself what you base your survival on and then pick apart this thing. What WOULD happen if you had no money? Do you really needed it, or perhaps you just need the things money brings to you like shelter, food and water, etc.? What if you had to do without it, would you still survive? Probably… so dig in there. See what you allow to bog down this chakra and get you all worked up about. Nothing is as important as we make it. Especially if we are feeling disconnected, weary, scared, or just bad. Dig into the lies you tell yourself and see if you can let go of some of them.

It made me feel so much better. If I am more detached about things, it doesn’t mean I won’t miss it if it is gone, but I don’t let it rob me of my present happiness. I also don’t let it throw me off kilter completely if I do lose it. I morn the loss, clear out that thing from my space and move forward.

Are you hanging on to something that you think IS affecting your survival right now?  What would happen if you just let it go? What value do you have on keeping it in your space? Do you really want to let it go? Notice how the base of your spine feels when you ask yourselves these questions. (I am guessing a lot of you are also lighting up your third chakra…power…in your stomach, but we can discuss that later). Just notice. Don’t make it a problem….just NOTICE.

I love you all, thanks for reading and good luck!
